GENERAL PRACTITIONERS (7)
Community expansion and the recent retirement of several family
physicians have resulted in seven full-time vacancies for general
practitioners in our area. Designated by the Ministry of Health
as "under-serviced," solo and group practice opportunities
with flexible full- and part-time hours are available immediately
for GPs in Cobourg, Port Hope and the surrounding communities.
The hospital is currently serviced by various GP and specialist
call groups; vacations are scheduled equitably between members
within the respective practices.
We are looking for Family Practitioners, who practice family medicine,
including ER and Obstetrics.
We are designated as an under serviced area by the Ministry of
Long Term Health and qualify for some incentives from the Ontario
government.
This means:
- The incentive grant program offers taxable incentive grants
ranging between $3,000 and $10,000, per eligible year, to a maximum
of $40,000 paid over a four-year period, to each physician who
establishes a full-time practice in an area of the province designated
as under serviced.
- To be eligible for an incentive grant the UAP
must approve the application before the applicant establishes
his/her practice. The choice where the physician establishes
a practice is his/hers and the applicant must meet all of the
following requirements:
- Hold a valid certificate of registration to practice medicine
from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Hold a
valid certificate From the College of Physician and Surgeons
of Canada in a specialty (if applicable)
- Hold an OHIP billing
number and billing privileges (if required)
- Hold Canadian citizenship
or landed immigrant status
- Have accepted a full-time practice
opportunity in an eligible under serviced community.
- Hold hospital
privileges in the community or, if there is no hospital in
the community, in an adjacent community (as required by the
community contact and approved by UAP)
- Have not previously received an
incentive grant through this program.
Also, for established physicians, we may be able to assist with
relocation or moving package, on an individualized, case by case
basis.
