Medical Association (OMA)
The Ontario Medical
Association is the professional association representing
the physicians of Ontario. The OMA is the provincial division
of the Canadian Medical Association.
The OMA is governed by a Board of Directors that includes representatives
from each health region in Ontario and each OMA section, including
the Section of Rural Medicine, which is described later under Other
Organizations Supporting Rural Physicians.
Additional information
Membership in the Ontario Medical Association is available on an
annual basis. The OMA provides the following for its members:

Practice Support
The Ontario Medical Association, and its ‘parent’, the Canadian
Medical Association, offer a number of services that benefit
the new rural physician. These include:
- Office practice management advice and consulting,
- Billing advice,
- Physician Locum Services,
- Professional development programs,
- Clinical Practice Guidelines, and
- Mediation services and ‘Healthy Business Partnerships’ workshops.
